Sandy Gap Lane Pavement Replacement

Posted On 6th February 2017

Dear Parents and Carers

You can imagine our surprise this morning when we arrived for another productive week at Walney School to find much of one side of Sandy Gap Lane closed off and Cumbria County Council preparing to begin a three week process of pavement replacement.  Unfortunately, we had not been informed of this disruption and, as such, I was unable to inform you ??? my apologies if this caused difficulties at the start of school this morning.

The school have worked very quickly this morning to ensure that all appropriate risk assessments and necessary actions have been undertaken to ensure our students remain safe when arriving at and leaving the school.  Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to avoid the disruption you are going to face in trying to drop off and pick up your children from school.  If at all possible, can I please ask that parents who use cars to transport students to and from school try to avoid the Sandy Gap Lane area directly outside of school.  There is, unfortunately, going to be significant disruption.

Once again, I apologise that I was not able to inform you about this situation sooner.  It was as much of a surprise to me this morning as I am sure it was for you!  Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.  I will endeavour to provide you with updates regarding progress of the work as we hopefully receive it.

Yours sincerely
