The Art department encourages our students in years 7, 8 and 9 to develop a broad range of creative skills through the teaching of a variety of art concepts, techniques and processes. Drawing allows the exploration of the formal elements – line, shape, tone, texture, form, proportion and pattern.
By the end of Key stage three Students will have explored painting, drawing, model making, lino printing and used mixed media techniques to enhance and extend their understanding of a range of artistic and cultural traditions and styles.
Sketch books are used to record ideas and research and these support independent learning both inside and beyond the classroom with homework being set.
Students also have the opportunity to work with outside agencies that have set briefs/ competitions for the students to participate in. ‘The Lion’s Club’ and Barrow 6th form to name a few.
