"High Standards and High Expectations by all and for all"

Walney School Catering

Good nutrition and a balanced diet are important if young people are to grow and develop to their full potential, maintain good physical and mental health, and do well in school. The food and nutritional standards, to which we must comply, help ensure that students eat a variety of different foods every day to meet these requirements.
The standards were necessary because research showed that young people were not making healthy choices at lunchtime therefore not meeting their nutritional needs.

The menu is available to view online so that parents and students can see what will be offered each day and parents can advise them to make a choice. Each day, as well as the menu, we provide fruit, bread, free drinking water and healthy drinks.

We aim to provide choices for every young person, whether it is a hot meal from the main kitchen outlet or a snack from the deli bar. The menus offer diversity as well as a balanced diet using homemade recipes and very little processed ingredients. We constantly research new recipes changing the menu each term.

Encourage your child to take their Meal Entitlement, which has increased this year to £2.40, which can buy grab bags, meal deals, a main meal and dessert, snacks, the choice is endless!
