"High Standards and High Expectations by all and for all"

Personal Development

Leaders: Heads of Year

After carrying out a review of personal development throughout the curriculum, we have ensured that we have covered all aspects of personal development, including such areas as British Values, Anti Bullying and Respect for Others by having six strands in each year group.

The strands are shown below and the Learning Journeys have been designed with the age of each learner in mind. So the "You and Your Body” topic builds year on year appropriate to the age of the students

The themes/ topics listed below run throughout years 7 to 10:
1.Relationships- You & Others
2.You and Your Body
3.Responsibilities & Values
4.CEIAG
5.Ready for Revision
6.You and Your Finances

Learning Journeys for each area are available for every year group (in the respective folder)
Also, there is a 6 week block of lessons before yearly exams for each year group to promote study and revision skills and methods.

Year 11 Personal Study lessons have students allocated to individual subject intervention and a separate CIAG programme

To ensure continuity across year groups in terms of personal development we have
Heads of Year assembly themes match the titles from the Learning Journeys each week
Registration time activities are timetabled and one slot per week is reserved for activities relating to the Learning Journey title for the week

Senior Leaders assemblies follow a weekly theme, but this is different to the Learning Journey themes as assemblies are across an entire key stage. SLT assembly themes are related to British Values and the expectations of society.
